šŸ³ļø Lucidā€™s 450-Mile Wonder, Europeā€™s EV Headaches, and GMā€™s Robotaxi Retreat

giphy

Tired of wading through EV hype and boardroom drama? Hereā€™s your cheat sheet: Lucidā€™s Gravity SUV is all ā€œLonger range, higher price,ā€ proving that EV luxury ainā€™t cheapā€”but hey, itā€™s a good look for your showroomā€™s halo spot. Meanwhile, a Sheikhā€™s absurd Mustang-Ram mashup reminds us that personalizing rides is still an art (or circus).

On the dealer front, sentimentā€™s looking up for 2025, but donā€™t break out the confetti. The marketā€™s still wobbly, EV optimism is on the downswing, and interest rates lurk like party poopers. At least Volvoā€™s electrified lineup is zipping off shelves like IKEA meatballsā€”proof that range anxiety fades when the productā€™s right.

Europeā€™s stuck in a spin cycle of regulation and stagnation, and Chinaā€™s exploiting every gap. Domestic side? Over 90% of EV adopters say, ā€œGas who?ā€ Meanwhile, battery prices tumble, marching us toward parity with gas cars. And GMā€™s robotaxi dream? Crashed. Reality check, anyone?

šŸ› ļø Mini Cars, Maximum Inspiration

Olivia Vanni / The Herald

Excitement and creativity filled the air at Marysville Toyota on Monday evening as kids donned oversized red coveralls and hard hats for the Toyota Mini Makers Garage event.

Hosted in partnership with the Toyota Lexus Minority Owners Dealership Association and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County (in Everett, Washington), the event gave 8 to 13-year-olds a hands-on introduction to auto engineering.

Guided by Alan Williams, Toyotaā€™s General Manager of Quality Systems and Planning, the kids assembled their own mini cars, learning about all the building blocks along the way like tires, taillights, grills, and more.

The event concluded with the kids exploring a real GR86, the life-sized version of the car they built, and learning about the technology under the hood.

Marysville Toyota owner Jim Colon hopes experiences like this ignite a passion for engineering in the next generation saying, ā€œHaving an interest develop starts at an early age. This could be the moment that sparks curiosity and sets them on a new path.ā€

Thanks for reading, friend! Weā€™ve heard that enough monkeys with enough typewriters and enough time could someday write ā€œRomeo and Julietā€. But, could enough monkeys with enough wrenches and enough pieces of raw metal build a factory that builds cars?
