📈 Batteries, Holograms, and Hydrogen

The Manheim Index finally ticked upward, but don’t pop the champagne—dealers aren’t thrilled with pricier wholesale cars.

Meanwhile, Ford and EVgo scored billions in federal loans, while VW scrambles to stay relevant in China with budget-friendly EVs.

Hyundai’s betting on hydrogen trucks in Georgia, though scaling hydrogen infrastructure could be a logistical nightmare.

BMW’s turning cooking oil into diesel fuel, GM wants to beam holograms into your eyeballs (seriously), and Tesla is losing ground as Hyundai and GM surge in the EV market.

Inflation nudged up, led by housing costs, but at least energy prices are still cooling.

🔧 Building Futures One Wrench at a Time

San Marcos Toyota in Texas is encouraging local high school students to consider well-paying careers as auto techs—and they’re having a blast doing it.

With skilled technicians in high demand, Service Director Sean Moore saw an opportunity to address the challenge by creating a program that inspires students and builds future talent.

“This is the long game,” Moore said. “We’re getting into the schools, showing kids how exciting this field is, and giving them a head start in building their future.”

The program, running strong for 18 months, partners with San Marcos and New Braunfels High Schools to give students hands-on shop experience. For those ready to hit the next gear, the Toyota T-TEN program at Austin Community College provides advanced training and opens doors to careers with Toyota and Lexus.

It’s giving students real-world experience, showing them what’s possible, and helping them take the wheel on their futures while also filing a critical need in the industry—a true win all around.
