Howdy Fam!

We’ve been hearing the phrase “software-defined vehicles” for years now, but no two companies are approaching it the same way.

Tesla already behaves more like a smartphone company that happens to make cars, betting its future on autonomy, ecosystem lock-in, and customers buying into the platform as much as the product itself. Chinese automakers are taking a different route: winning on affordability, speed, and feature-packed EVs while running headfirst into concerns around data security and software access in North America.

Meanwhile, legacy automakers are somewhere in the middle, trying to modernize without breaking supplier relationships, dealer networks, or customer trust along the way.

Today’s news feels like another page in a chapter called: change is the only constant, y’all.
