THE NEWS
Stronger Sentiment Boosted by Speedy Sales
The retail experience is finally shedding its slow-moving reputation.
According to the 2025 Cox Automotive Car Buyer Journey Study, satisfaction among new-car buyers has hit an all-time high of 81%. Used-car shoppers are also seeing a lift, with sentiment climbing to 75% as inventory and transparency improve.
The data suggests that efficiency is the new currency on the showroom floor. Highly satisfied buyers are now:
Spending nearly 30 fewer minutes at the dealership.
Dealing with only 1-2 employees total.
Experiencing significantly less "idle time" during the transaction.
Streamlining the handoff process and reducing idle time removes the friction that otherwise weighs down a deal. And in 2026, the most successful showrooms are going to be those that treat a buyer's time as a non-negotiable priority.
We already know that insurance premiums weigh heavily on a buyer’s monthly budget, but for some high-end sedans, the latest numbers are down right leaden.
Maserati sits at the top of the list. The Quattroporte is entering its final year with a V8, and the average yearly premium reflects it at $10,737. The Ghibli follows closely at $10,141.
Audi and BMW are also all over the list. The RS6 and RS7 both average over $8K for a policy, and BMW’s M8 Gran Coupe is nearly there at $7,938.
Keep in mind that average full coverage hit $2,312 annually at the end of 2025 (~$193/month). Still relatively high by normal standards, but an absolute steal by comparison.
Providing figures like these early in the sales process removes a lot the guesswork for your client and prevents them from over-extending their budget. Every shopper appreciates a clear view of their total monthly payment, and being transparent upfront helps to build that serious long-term trust.
The Charging Map is Growing
Finding a place to plug in is getting much easier these days. New data shows America’s public charging network is growing quickly.
During the third quarter of 2025, Level 2 chargers saw a 17% jump, while DC Fast chargers climbed by 32%. Total ports are up 21% overall.
Plus, a federal judge just ruled to unfreeze billions in funding for state chargers, so we can expect the upward trend to continue.
We are finally seeing the infrastructure catch up to EV production, and with more chargers comes more buyer confidence. And, more opportunity for dealers.
Is Amber the Color of Your Car’s Energy?
Not exactly trending on TikTok. But ask anyone who cares about safety, and they’ll tell you amber just works.
They’re easier to see, better at preventing crashes, and already required in most of the world. But in North America? Only 43% of 2026 models use them. That’s down from 48% in 2023.
Amber rear turn signals are:
More effective at crash prevention than red ones. A 5.3% reduction in rear-end collisions, according to the NHTSA. That’s more effective than the third brake light, and we mandate those.
Better for visibility and clarity, especially when braking and signaling happen simultaneously. When brake lights glow red and turn signals glow amber, the message stays clear and easily readable.
Already built into many cars overseas, manufacturers just don’t use them in North America.
So, while it’s a feature that typically doesn’t make the headlines, it’s definitely worth paying attention to.
