EV Surge Before the Clock Ran Out
Nearly 410k EVs sold in Q3 as buyers grabbed the final $7,500 credit. Ford logged record EVs (+30%) and hybrids (+55k). Hyundai and Kia surged double digits, with Ioniq 5 sales +152%. Hyundai is now dangling $9,800 cuts and $7,500 cash on new models. September was an EV fire sale—October is reality.
The Numbers Don’t Sing the Future
September SAAR hit 16.2M, average price $45,795, incentives $3,116. Inventory sits at 2.8M, but EV supply is down 43% YoY. Cox says Q3 strength was Big Four-driven, with a Q4 cool-down looming.
And…
Post-Credit Era: EV share may dip <10% in 2025; hybrids + PHEVs bridge the gap.
Consumers Wary: Sentiment index 55 (–5% MoM); buyers fixated on payments.
Hydrogen Hype: Daimler touts fuel cells, but BEVs still lead the race.

How Much Time Do You Spend Merchandising Vehicles?
It’s probably much more time than you think, especially if you build descriptions, photos, carousels, videos and listing information for each vehicle, one at a time.
That’s why many dealers’ merchandising doesn’t connect with consumers the way it should. Today, consumers expect to explore a vehicle’s features, fit and value the way they do anywhere else online.
Enter vAuto’s Advanced Merchandising Suite. It helps you cut the time it takes to merchandise each vehicle and provide experiences that turn consumers toward your vehicles.

AROUND THE ASOTU-VERSE
Most dealer groups are still playing musical chairs with their inventory.
Nick Askew caught up with Derek Hansen of Cox Automotive and Patrick Janes of vAuto at ASOTU CON to ask the obvious: why?
They break down how dealers can stop the internal bidding, skip the transfer drama, and actually use data to send cars where they’ll sell.
