National Automobile Dealers Association Foundation Commits $3 Million to American Cancer Society to Support Vital Transportation for Cancer Patients

TYSONS, Va. - The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Foundation announced today a new national sponsorship agreement with the American Cancer Society, committing $3 million over the next three years to support the Road To Recovery® program. Through this sponsorship, the NADA Foundation will help ensure that cancer patients have reliable access to transportation for lifesaving treatment.

"Building on our longstanding commitment to supporting impactful charitable initiatives, the NADA Foundation is proud to announce its national sponsorship of the American Cancer Society’s Road To Recovery program," said NADA Foundation Chairwoman Annette Sykora. "Through our $3 million commitment and the support of dealers nationwide, we're helping ensure transportation is never a barrier to lifesaving cancer treatment."

NADA President and CEO Mike Stanton said, “America's franchised auto dealers are in the business of keeping people moving, and we are proud to put that mission to work in support of cancer patients across the country. Through this sponsorship, dealers are stepping up to provide free rides to cancer-related medical appointments, offering essential support to patients and their families when they need it most.”

Over the past 30 years, the Road To Recovery program has provided over 9.7 million free rides for cancer patients across the country. Just last year, approximately 6,000 volunteer drivers provided over 89,000 rides to 7,300 individuals. For every $1 million donated, the American Cancer Society facilitates approximately 20,000 rides for patients in need. The support from the NADA gift will be used to fund essential elements of the Road To Recovery program, including driver background checks, motor vehicle registration checks, patient outreach, and ride matching technology.

“Addressing cancer requires more than medical care alone, it takes communities, volunteers and committed partners working together to support patients every step of the way,” said Nickki Reeves, senior vice president, corporate alliances at the American Cancer Society. “The NADA Foundation's investment in Road To Recovery will help expand access to a critical support service and ensure more people can focus on their treatment and recovery rather than how they'll get to their next appointment.”

The NADA Foundation’s commitment to the American Cancer Society’s Road To Recovery program goes beyond its initial announcement. The foundation will leverage its extensive network of members, allowing individual dealers to engage in philanthropic efforts. Dealers can contribute by donating cars, providing drivers, and showcasing promotional materials and volunteer opportunities in their dealership showrooms.
