TOGETHER WITH :

Howdy Fam!

Paul and Michael talked about “what Mazda” means to people on yesterday’s morning show. Got me thinking.

What the heck does Mazda mean?

Turns out the name has two origin stories. The first is simply that it sounds kinda like the founder’s name, “Matsuda.”

The second is wild, and we gotta go back to Ancient Persia and Zoroastrianism. “Ahura Mazda” is the central figure in the ancient religion, and his name means “Wise Lord.” So, people living 3,500 years ago would hear “Mazda” and think “wisdom.”

Kinda a long way around to get to the point, but all the sources I checked said the same thing, so I feel ok taking you on the same path I took.

Enjoy
