  • Hot dogs were one of the first foods eaten on the Moon.

  • "Hot Dog!" were the first words from Mickey Mouse's mouth.

  • Hot Dog stand space outside NY's Central Park Zoo costs $300K annually.

  • Frankfurt, Germany, claims to be the originator of the hot dog and celebrated the hot dog's 500th birthday in 1987

Americans will spend $2.3B on beer for the 4th.

  • In the Middle Ages, beer was considered a normal part of the human diet.

  • Mcdonald's in South Korea, Germany, Spain, and Portugal serve beer to their patrons.

  • Western Iran has shown the earliest evidence of beer making. Tests found the brew as far back as 3,500 BC.

  • There are over 100 varieties of beer.

Independence Day became a paid federal holiday in 1941.

  • In 1941 WW2 was in its third year, with about four left. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7th, bringing the US into the war.

  • Current evidence suggests China first used fireworks around 200 BC.

  • According to Guinness, a church in the Philipines holds the record for the largest-ever firework display, with 810,904 fireworks.

  • Disney spends around $50M a year on fireworks.

  • Mineral elements provide the color of fireworks. Barium produces bright greens; strontium yields deep reds; copper produces blues; and sodium yields yellow.
