Last Week, Podcasts, and New Scent, Who Dis?

The Daily Pushback Email

  • On Monday we saw Aston Martin's shift to attract younger F1 fans, Kia making history with its first EV assembled in Georgia, and Hyundai facing a child labor lawsuit. Plus, Europe delayed a decision on Chinese EV tariffs, while New York prepped for EV charging "trees." Just another manic Monday, amirite?

  • Tuesday, we saw some scandals out of Japan, used EV Q1 data, and Ford’s new train station turned tech center. We wrapped the day with a look at dealers' difficulty with EV tax credit reimbursements.

  • Wednesday, we checked on Volvo, Rivian, and Ford (again), Tesla’s chip challenge, and some EV repair data. Then we saw some couch heroes and some new Porsche colors.

  • Thursday, we reviewed may data from Ford (again again), Nio, and Volvo (again). Wow, when some of these companies get moving, they don’t get off stage for a bit. Then, we shared some of the history behind D-Day’s 80th anniversary.

  • Friday, we looked at more May reports from several automakers (not Ford or Volvo this time) and reviewed a survey showing most consumers are still committed to ICE. We ended the week with an economic recap.

SOMETHING FUN

Cherry Tires

Great news! You can finally smell like tires without touching them.

Nissan has launched a new fragrance called "Smell My Dust," blending the scent of tires with cherry blossoms, celebrating Japan's iconic blooms. OK, the Japan part is kinda wholesome, but still... just...why?

The custom scent was made in collaboration with a perfume lab in Shanghai ahead of a Formula E race. While it doesn't seem to be a direct promotional effort (because why would it be?), the release will surely draw some attention to Shanghai from tire fans everywhere.

The recipe isn't public, but actual tire dust has not been ruled out.
