SOMETHING FUN

Recycling a Dream Home, One Bottle at a Time

giphy

Yes, this is technically about bottle service.

Australian healthcare worker Damian Gordon didn’t set out to become a real estate investor when he started cleaning up the beach. But after seven years, nearly half a million recycled cans and bottles, and a whole lot of trips to reverse vending machines, the man had banked $45K toward a house deposit.

That’s right — by turning trash into cash through New South Wales’ Return and Earn program, Gordon went from beachcomber to homeowner. Festivals, parks, curbs, and cleanups became his hunting grounds. At one event alone, he earned $4,000 by salvaging 40,000 containers.

He topped off his eco-hustle with frugal flair, furnishing his new 2-bed home with curbside finds like a fridge, microwave, and bed frame. And he’s still at it:

“Now I’m paying off my dream home, one bottle at a time.”

Meanwhile, in America, we’re still arguing over paper vs. plastic, and dealers are fighting to get plastic seat covers delivered on time. 😅

So yeah… Happy Saturday.
