🌵 Alison Prowse Takes on the Sahara for Breast Cancer Awareness

The auto industry is full of incredible people, and sometimes their stories go far beyond the showroom floor. That’s exactly the case for Alison Prowse, a Sales Executive at Bowker BMW in Preston, who is taking on a grueling 100-kilometer (62-mile) trek across the Sahara Desert this November in support of breast cancer awareness.

For Alison, this isn’t just about the challenge—it’s personal. Back in 2020, she was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer, a battle that tested her resilience in every way. Now, as she marks five years since her diagnosis, she’s pushing herself in a whole new way—trekking for five days through scorching heat and rugged landscapes, all to raise $3,800 (her original goal of £3,000) for CoppaFeel!, a charity dedicated to educating young people on the early signs of breast cancer.

A Journey of Strength and Determination

Alison’s trek will take her through towering sand dunes, rocky valleys, and the volcanic terrain of Djebel Zereg, with temperatures climbing past 86°F during the day and plunging at night as she camps under the desert sky.

“This trek is my way of giving back,” Alison shared. “2020 was an incredibly tough year, but I made it through thanks to the support of so many people. With this being five years since my diagnosis, it’s a huge milestone for me personally.”

She’ll be walking up to eight hours a day, navigating the Tikertouachene River and the breathtaking Moroccan landscape. But for Alison, the real reward is in raising funds and awareness.

“Early detection saved my life,” she said. “CoppaFeel! is doing life-changing work, and every dollar raised helps young people recognize the signs of breast cancer early, so they can get the medical attention they need.”

Celebrating Alison’s Mission

Right now, Alison has already raised over $3,000, and her journey serves as an inspiring reminder of the strength and determination within the automotive community. Her efforts not only highlight the importance of early detection but also showcase how one person’s story can impact countless others.
