DEALERS

Greenwich Porsche: Charity, Stars, Impact

Greenwich Porche/Music Beats Cancer

In a heartwarming show of support, the Greenwich Porsche Dealership recently hosted a charity event in partnership with Music Beats Cancer, a non-profit funding cancer research and treatments. 🎢 πŸ’—

A silent auction was hosted at the dealership with donated items from some of the event’s star-studded guests such as former NY Giants Player, Lawrence Taylor, and notable YouTuber, Larry Kosilla. In standard Kosilla fashion, he offered to detail a Porsche for the Greenwich dealership to raffle off. 🧽

Greenwich Porche was proud to donate $35K to the charity, with more money generated by the event still rolling in. πŸ’°

We want to know β€” Which local celebrity would you want to join your next community or charity event?

Motor Morsels: VInFast, Nio, NACS Fo’ Real Tho

VinFast, the Vietnamese automaker, is accelerating the EV transition in North America, delivering nearly 2,000 VF 8 vehicles with battery ranges of up to 264 miles. Certified by the Environmental Protection Agency, the EVs are priced "competitively" from $46K in the U.S. and $53,600 in Canada. They come standard with a 10-year warranty, an Advanced Driver Assistance System, and the ability for over-the-air updates.

The price war, which is more of a discount skirmish, has China's EV maker, Nio, cutting prices on its cars and delaying research and expansion spending. The company's margins fell from 14.6% a year ago to 3.9% in Q4 2022 before crash landing at 1.5% in Q1 2023. As of March, the company has $2.07B to work with, 1/22nd the price of Twitter for scale.

Ford and GM don't always agree, but when they do, the industry changes. Since both automakers have adopted Tesla's North American Charging Standard, other companies are moving to adopt the hardware for their networks. Quebec-based Flo, US-based Blink, and ChargePoint have already announced plans to adopt the standard.

Telling it like it is β€” VinFast is delivering its best yet, NIO is losing gains, and Tesla’s North American charging standard really is becoming the standard.

Young Talent in the Spider-Verse

Giphy

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has been delighting audiences worldwide, snatching up more than $208M in its opening weekend alone. Amidst the accolades and applause, a remarkable secret was uncovered β€” one scene in the film wasn't crafted by seasoned Hollywood artists but rather by a talented 14-year-old from Toronto.

In January, Preston Mutanga, an avid LEGO enthusiast, decided to recreate the movie trailer entirely out of colorful plastic bricks. 🧱

Sony Pictures

His impressive video caught the attention of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (the brilliant minds behind The Lego Movie and Spider-Verse). Impressed with the sophistication of Preston's creation, the duo decided to weave his LEGO magic into the film. 🎬

Inspired by the inspired. Lord said of Preston’s creative video, β€œThe idea in Spider-Verse is that a hero can come from anywhere. And here comes this heroic young person who’s inspired by the movie that was inspired by people like him.”

Telling it like it is β€” You’re never too young (or, too old) to chase your dreams. πŸ’
